Too Cute and Resourceful

Mar 13, 2017 | Ruth Girls Institute

When I was in India in September I was in the RGI kitchen storage area and saw some potatoes that had begun to sprout. I said, ” Nupi, you know you can plant those potatoes and they will grow you a crop.”
Well since then she did just that with the girls as an “experiment.”

They didn’t realize they could have had a bigger crop by dividing each potato and also bigger ones if they had left them in the ground longer. At any rate, it was an enormous success.

The girls were so excited and had a regular feast with the potato curry for dinner.
The Kitchen garden has been a fabulous teaching tool and a huge addition to the girls’ diet.

I love their resourcefulness and willingness to try something new.
